Edrei Alaban is the fashion designer and founder of ALABAN, a Chicago-based brand specializing in custom Filipinianas and eveningwear. Known for her meticulous attention to detail and innovative approach, she combines heritage-inspired silhouettes with modern elegance to create garments that are both timeless and uniquely personal.

History
2012-2020
At just 9 years old, Edrei began her journey in fashion, exploring her creativity through sketching and learning to sew under her mother’s guidance. By age 14, she was working with her first sewing machine, creating handmade garments and crafts. Over the years, she continued to refine her skills, laying the foundation for the meticulous craftsmanship and creativity that define her work today.
2021-2025
Edrei pursued a degree in Fashion Design, honing the skills and vision that would become the foundation of ALABAN. She earned 1st place for Best Student Design at the World Fashion Festival, with her work featured on WGN News, and was subsequently invited to Chicago Fashion Week, followed by multiple appearances at prominent fashion shows. These experiences helped her grow in both recognition and industry connections, establishing her as a rising talent in the fashion world.
2026-present
Edrei recognized a gap in fashion representation within the Filipino community and stepped forward to meet the demand for high-quality Filipiniana design. This vision led to the creation of ALABAN, through which she began crafting custom Filipiniana gowns and boleros.
